Rogelio H. A. Ruvalcaba
American paediatrician, born 1934, Mexico.
Associated eponyms:
Bannayan's syndrome
A very rare familial disease with a predilection in males. It manifests with symmetrical macrocephaly without ventricular enlargement, mild neurological dysfunction, and postnatal growth retardation.

Ruvalcaba's syndrome
A Distinct syndrome in the group of congenital skeletal disturbances.

Ruvalcaba-Myhre-Smith syndrome
A syndrome combining the principal elements of the Sotos syndrome (cerebral gigantism) with intestinal polyposis and pigmented lesions (café-au-lait spots) on the penis.

Biography:
Rogelio H. Ruvalcaba received his MD degree from the Universidad de Guadalajara, Mexico, at the age of 23 years, and in 1958 he emigrated to the United States, where he uneertook a second internship at Hôtel Dieu Hospital, Louisiana State University in New Orleans, where he also spent his first year in paediatric residency. He completed the last two years of paediatric residency in Omaha, Nebraska, where he met his wife, Elaine T. Hermanson. In 1965 he was appointed to the faculty of the University of Washington.
