Severe polyneuritis following diphteria. Characterised by collapse, vomiting, disturbance of heart rhythm, respiration difficulties, and sometimes albuminuria and paralysis (Landry type).

The term Glanzmann-Saland syndrome has also been used as a synonym for the Guillain-Barré syndrome (acute febrile polyneuritis), but these are separate entities.
