A disease affecting many domestic animals, wild animals, and man. Caused by Listeria monocytogenes. It may ble transmitted transplacentally to the fetus, in which case it may cause abortion. In newborn, the disease is much more serious than in the adult. The mortality may be 100% when it occurs in the first four days.
