A variant of Münhhausen's syndrome characterised by the sick person's persistent pursuit of the surgeon, like the albatros follows “his” ship. It is a disease picture seen after gastrectomy, without pathological development. The term refers to Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s (1772-1834) «The rime of the ancient mariner».
