Biography of Gordon Norrie

Gordon Norrie was the grandson of a Scottish merchant who had settled in Denmark, and both his parents were of Scottish descent. Following graduation in medicine at the University of Copenhagen he first trained in surgery and then pursued a career in ophthalmology. Norrie was highly recognised for his efforts for the bind and was surgeon to the Danish Institute for the Blind for 35 years.
