Biography of Pedro Brugada

Pedro Brugada, M.D, Ph.D., was the first of five children born to Ramon Brugada (1925-1999) and Pepita Brugada. He is currently professor of cardiology at the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwziekenhuis (Cardiovascular Research and Teaching Institute) in Aalst, Moorselbaan, Belgium. He received his medical training at the University of Barcelona School of Medicine

Pedro Brugada's first patient was an eight year Polish boy. With his brother Josep Brugada, who then worked in Belgium, he first described the syndrome in eight patients, in 1991.
