Biography of Pietro Grocco

Pietro Grocco studied in Pavia and received his doctorate at the university in that town in 1879, subsequently also studying in Paris and Wien. He was assistant at the medical clinic in Pavia, where he was habilitated for special medical pathology and propaedeutic in 1884. In 1888 he assumed the chair of clinical medicine in Pisa and from 1892 he was professor at the Instituto di studi superiori in Florence. He was described as an interesting and inspiring teacher with a knack for simple explanation of complex problems.
