Biography of Ahmad Nakib

Ahmad Nakib, from Beirut, Lebanon, was a surgical resident working with C. Walton Lillehei when he developed this toroidal disc valve design. Between 1967 and 1970 about 500 of these valves were implanted, mostly to replace the mitral valve.
