Biography of Dan Gavriliu

Dan Gavriliu is now (2003) 88 years old. For years he was a doctor and professor at the Municipal University Hospital in Bucharest, where his bust has been on display since 1991. Gavriliu has been honoured by several European countries, including Italy and France. In 1985, he became a member of the French Academy of Surgery, and he is a former consultant to the World Journal of Surgery, the official journal of the International Society of Surgery. He has lectured at the Royal College of Surgeons in England and was a visiting professor at the Mayo Clinic in the United States in 1975.
