Biography of Alberto Leopoldo Barton Thompson

Alberto Leopoldo Barton Thompson was born in Buenos Aires to English parents. The family moved to Lima, Peru, and in 1894 Alberto entered Facultad de Medicina de San Fernando, where one of his teachers was the professor of microbiology, David Matto. From 1905 he was director of the bacteriological laboratory of the hospital Guadalupe del Callao. He was president of the Academia Nacional de Medicina 1937-1938, and director of the hospital Arzobispo Loayza 1941-1943.
