Biography of Hugo (Ugo) Schiff

Hugo Schiff was a pupil of Friedrich Wöhler (1800-1882) at the University of Göttingen. He founded the chemical institute at the University of Florence, where he was professor of chemistry from 1879. His brother, Moritz Schiff (1823-1896), was professor of physiology at the same university. The Hugo Schiff International Store House, at the University of Florence, Italy, is named for him. It will serve as a seat for the History of Chemistry.
