Biography of Wilhelm Gilbert
Wilhelm Gilbert studied at Munich, Berlin, and Bonn, where he obtained his doctorate in 1903. He worked in the university eye clinics in Bonn and Munich, was habilitated for ophthalmology at Munich in 1910, became ausserordentlicher professor in 1915, and subsequently practiced eye medicine in Hamburg.
Gilbert contributed to the Handbuch der gesammten Augenheilkunde by Albrecht von Graefe and Edwin Theodor Saemisch, and Kurzes Handbuch der Ophthalmologie Berlin, 1930) by Franz Schieck (1871-) and Arthur Brückner (1877-).
