Description:
A disturbance characterized by multiple tumorous masses formed by the bony infiltrates in myelogenous leukemia. May be present in any portion of the skeleton, but are found most frequently in the skull. They are usually greenish, due to the presence of the green pigment myeloperoxidase. When present, the color tends to fade after exposure to air.
The disturbance was described as early as in 1811 by Allan Burns (1781-1813).
