Description:
Widened palpebral tissue or lid spasm seen in thyrotoxicosis (Basedow's disease), causing abnormal wideness of the palpebral fissure.
Some authors make this and Dalrymple's disease one entity, described like this: retraction of the upper eyelid, the white of the sclera is visible at the upper margin of the cornea in direct outward stare. Pathogonomic eye symptom in Basedow’s disease and thyrotoxicosis.
