Dieulafoy's treacherous remission
Synonyms:
Accalmie traitresse de Dieulafoy, treacherous remission of Dieulafoy.
Associated persons:
Paul Georges Dieulafoy
Description:
We received this description from François Boucher: When a patient with appendicitis experiences a temporary abatement of symptoms of abdominal pain and stiffness of the abdominal wall, before going on to a full, and often fatal, development of peritonitis. This temporary improvement happens when the inflamed appendix suddenly bursts, spewing pus and intestinal contents into the abdomen.
