Gerber's test
Synonyms:
Lift-off test.
Associated persons:
Christian Gerber
Description:
The lift-off test is used to diagnose tears of the subscapularis tendon. Description as given by Gerber and Krushell: This test is based on our observation that weakness of internal rotation is most easely demonstrated at the limit of the amplitude of contraction of the muscle, namely, when the arm is fully extended and internally rotated. A patient with subscapularis rupture is unable to lift the dorsum of his hand of this back, a finding which we call a "pathological lift-off test".
We thank Patrick Jucker-Kupper, Switzerland, for information submitted.
