Bassini's operation

Related people

Standard surgical procedure for inguinal hernia: the hernial sac is removed.

The novelty of Bassini's operation was above all that the posterior wall of the inguinal canal could be reconstructed and reinforced. His operation remains a cornerstone in hernial surgery.

Sie sollte daher aus kräftigem Muskelgewebe bestehen.“ From his 1890 article.

Bassini reported a frequency of relapse of 4 percent, of which most surgeons of today would have been proud.
