Former name for the agent of bilharziosis, a genus of trematodes of the family Schistosomatidae, Schistosoma haematobium, also called Egyptian haematuria, or the blood flukes. Bilharzia is also used as a synonym for bilharziosis.

Bilharzia is known to have existed in Mesopotamia and the Nile Valley as early as 3 000 thousand years ago.
