Teori for den patogenetiske mekanismen ved knokkelnydannelse ved de såkalte oestoplastiske karcinoser. Etter Axhausens mening skjer det da ikke et knokkelsvinn, men en knokkeltilvekst, særlig til en knokkelforandring (Umbau), som må antas ha ha sin årsak i irritasjoner (reize) som går ut fra svulstceller.
