Dieulafoy's vascular malformation of the stomach

Associated persons:
Paul Georges Dieulafoy

Description:
A rare defect of the gastrointestinal mucosa, usually occurring near the gastroesophageal junction, although it may occur in the small intestine or colon, in which a submucosal artery in abnormally close contact with the mucosa causes pressure erosion of the epithelium and eventually ruptures into the stomach.

This may be the same as Dieulafoy's lesion.
