Description:
The patent processus vaginalis, an anomalous peritoneal pouch of peritoneum extending for a variable distance into the labium of the external female genitalia. Homologous to processus vaginalis of the male. It is generally obliterated in the adult, but sometimes remains pervious even in advanced life.
