Zieve's syndrome

Description:
Symptom complex occurring in patient with excessive consumption of alcohol, characterised by haemolytic anaemia, severe hyperlipoproriteinaemia, transient jaundice, and abdominal pain. More prevalent in middle-aged male patient. In Zieve's 20 patients, aged 26 to 65 years, tremulousness was common and frank delirium tremens occurred at times. The condition improved once the drinking stops.
