A variant of the van Bogaert syndrome. Encephalitis marked by severe headache, vertigo, bouts of unconsciousness, movement disorders, and delirium. The movement disorders usually include tremor, myoclonus, and chorea, in which the extremities may assume bizarre positions. Anarthria and trismus are frequently present. The fever usually follows an unpredictable curve
