Jacques Amédée Doléris

Jacques Amédée Doléris studied in Paris and became externe in 1872, interne 1874, and doctor of medicine 1879. He worked with Louis Pasteur (1822-1895) from 1878 to1881, was clinically active in 1883 and 1885-1898 was Chef de Service at the hospitals Oitié, Boucicvaut, and St.-Antoine. During the period of 1898 to 1919 one of his duties as professor was giving the clinical lectures at the hospitals Boucicaut and St.-Antoine. As a pupil of Pasteur, Doléris concerned himself chiefly with the study of microbiology of puerperal infections, septicaemias and the erysipel; later he concentrated his efforts in gynaecology (Doléris operations of retroversio-flexio). He was a member of the Académie de Médecin and was the founder of Archives d’obstétrique et de gynécologie, and of Gynécologie.
