Biography of Maurice Lannois

Maurice Lannois studied in Paris, where he received his doctorate in 1880 and at first was military physician at Val-de-Grâce. He subsequently received further education in otology in Vienna with Adam Politzer (1835-1920) and Leopold Ritter von Schrötter-Kristelli (1837-1908). In 1886 he settled as otologist in Lyon and that year was appointed agrégé. He became médecin des hôpitaux in 1889 and was made in charge of a department for diseases of the ear, becoming professor adjoint in 1908, in 1921 titular professor, 1927 honorary professor.

One of the most distinguished oto-rhino-laryngologists in France in his time, Lannois also concerned himself extensively with general medicine and took a particular interest in diseases of the nerves.
