Biography of Carl Friedrich August Lange

Carl Friedrich August Lange studied in Strassburg and obtained his doctorate at Giessen in 1907. He worked at the psychiatric clinic in Strassburg, and the Lothringer Bezirks-Heil- und Pflegeanstalt, at the surgical department of the Rochusspital in Mainz, at the Virchow Hospital in Berlin and at the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Institut für experimentelle Therapie. He later practiced as a specialist in diseases of the skin in Berlin, being titular professor, and eventually settled in the U.S., working with the New York State Health Department. He is remembered for his colloidal gold reaction for investigating the spinal fluid, developed in 1912.
