Biography of Harris D. Riley, Jr.

Harry R. Riley, Jr. specialised in paediatrics immediately after obtaining an MD from the Vanderbilt University School of medicine, Nashville-Davidson, Tennessee, in 1948. He then interned at the Baltimore City and Johns Hopkins Hospitals, and completed residency training in paediatrics at the Babies and Children's Hospital. He served in both World War II and the Korean War, with the US Navy and US Air Force respectively.

In 1958 he became professor of paediatrics and head of the department of paediatrics, University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. In 1976 he was appointed as distinguished professor of paediatrics at the University of Oklahoma, and in 1991 he was appointed professor of paediatrics at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
