Biography of Jaime Rotés-Quérol
Jaime Rotés-Quérol was educated at the medical faculty in Barcelona, where one of his teachers was professor Agustin Pedro Pons (1898-1971). Following graduation he studied at the Lariboisière in Paris under professor Stanislas de Sèze (1903-2000). He then worked for three years near Jacques Forestier (1890-1978) in Aix-les-Bains, a beautiful city near Lac du Bourget.
Rotés-Quérol became chief of the rheumatologic hospital in Barcelona and was professor adjunto of pathology and clinical medicine, and professor encargado of rheumatology. He was president of the Sociedad Española de Reumatología, and founder and director of the journal Revista Española de Reumatología, the official organ of the Sociedad Española de Reumatología.
In 1980 Jaime Rotés-Quérol became an honorary member of the American Rheumatism Association. La Biblioteca Jaime Rotés Querol (BJRQ), a library of the Sociedad Española de Reumatología, was named in his honour and opened in 2000.
