Biography of Rudolf Abel

Rudolf Abel was conferred doctor of medicine in 1890 in Greifswald, then became assistant to Friedrich August Johannes Löffler (1852-1915), and in 1893 was habilitated as Privatdozent of hygiene. After serving subsequently as chief medical officer of Hamburg, at the police headquarters in Berlin as well as with the Prussian minsistry of culture, he was appointed professor of hygiene in Jena in 1915.
