Biography:
Rudolf Neurath studied at the University of Vienna. He was graduated there in 1893 and received his doctorate 1903. Following graduation he spent his hospital service and assistant period at various clinics and from 1894 to 1897 in the Karolinen-Kinderspital and St. Anna-Kinderspital. From 1898 to 1918 he was head of a department of the I. Öffentliches Kinderkrankeninstitut. From 1918 on he was leader of the childrens' ambulatorium of the Wiener Arbeiterkrankenkasse. He was habilitated for paediatrics at Vienna in 1913, becoming titular professor in 1927. He was also city physician for adolescents. In 1938 he emigrated and moved to New York.

In 1902 Neurath married Hedda Samek. They had four children: Herbert (born 1903), Otto (born 1905) which became physician; Gerda ( 1907), married Hoffmann; and Hans (1909-2002).

His work concerns to a large degree the neurology of child age, the study of puberty, and endocrinology.
