Biography:
Hans Königstein was the son of the ophthalmologist Leopold Königstein (1850-1924). He studied in Vienna and Bern, receiving his doctorate from the latter university in 1903. He worked at the Franz-Josef-Spital and was habilitated for skin- and venereal disease at his alma mater in 1913, becoming titular professor in 1927. Königsteins’s work concerns the study of the resorption of seminal threads, the pigment, the nervous system in early stages of lues, the chemistry of the skin, the skin an internal secretion as well as the amyloids of the skin.
