Soma Cornelius Beck

Hungarian dermatologist, born August 3, 1872, Keszthely; died April 26, 1930.

Biography:
Soma Cornelius Beck studied in Budapest, receiving his doctorate in that city in 1895. Following his period as assistant physician with Otto Pertik (1852-1913) he concentrated his efforts on dermatology and worked as the assistant of Paul Gerson Unna (1850-1929) in Hamburg. In 1899 he became physician-in-chief at the department of dermatology at the Brody Adele Kinderspital in Budapest. He was habilitated for dermatology there in 1904, being appointed professor extraordinary in 1917.

In 1817 he was made in charge of the skin department of the Budapest Zita-Hospital, and in 1924 assumed the chair of dermatology in Pécs, where he died in 1930.

Beck took a particular interest in the dermatology the child age.
