Robert Steven Jampel
American neuro-ophthalmologist, born 3 november 1926.

Biography:
Robert Steven Jampel graduated from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University, New York, in 1950. After completing a neurology residency and an ophthalmic residency at the University of Michigan he obtained the PhD degree in anatomy. In 1858 he joined the faculty of the State University of New York, and decade later became neuro-ophthalmologist to the College of Physicians and Surgeons at the Institute of Ophthalmology. In 1970 he was appointed professor and chairman of the department of ophthalmology of Wayne State University and director of the Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit. He is presently (2000) chairman and emeritus of the Kresge Eye Institute.
