Biography of Donald Church Balfour

Donald Church Balfour studied in Toronto and received his doctorate in that city in 1914. From 1907 he practiced as surgeon in Rochester, attached to the Mayo clinic. His scientific works particularly concerns the surgery of the thyroid gland, gastric ulcers and the spleen. He provided the best account of his important operation for resection of the sigmoid colon in 1910.
