Biography of Siegfried Oberndorfer
Siegfried Oberndorfer studied at Munich and in Kiel, receiving his doctorate at Munich in 1900. From 1902 to 1906 he was an assistant at the pathological institute in Munich. He was habilitated for pathological anatomy in 1906 and became professor extraordinary in 1911. From 1910 he was head of the pathological institute in the city hospital München-Schwabing. In 1907, Oberndorfer coined the term "carcinoid tumour" to designate the tumour as cancer-ish.
