Biography of Carl Nicoladoni
Carl Nicoladoni studied at Vienna, where he received his doctorate in 1871. He then entered the clinic of Johann von Dumreicher (1815-1880), became assistant in 1873 and was habilitated for surgery in 1876. Nicoladoni in 1881 was called to Innsbruck as professor of surgery, and in this position he supervised the building a new surgical clinic which was opened in 1888. From 1895 held the same tenure at Graz.
Nicoladoni performed the first operation for en oesophagus diverticulum and is the originator of the idea of gastroenterostomy.
