Biography of Alberto Ascoli

Alberto Ascoli. studied in Vienna, Marburg an der Lahn and Pavia and was conferred doctor of medicine in Vienna in 1901, and in Pavia in 1902. He spent some time as a voluntary assistant at the university institute of obstetrics and gynaecology, then worked at the Milan R. Scuola die Ostetrica where he was technician (preparations) from 1903 to 1919 as well as deputy director of the institute of serum therapy in Milan.

In 1907 he was habilitated for physiological chemistry in Pavia, in 1910 for veterinary hygiene and public health at the Scuola Superiore di Medicina Veterinaria in Milano. In 1915 he became professor of hygiene, public health, and meat inspection at the Scuola Superiore di Medicina Veterinaria in Modena. In 1924 he was appointed to the R. Instituto di Medicina Veterinaria in Milano.

He was director of the journal Biochimica e Terapia sperimentale.
