Biography of Otto von Büngner
Otto von Büngner studied in Dorpat and Halle from 1877 to 1883 as a student of Eduard von Wahl (1833-1890) and Richard von Volkmann (1830-1889). From 1883 to 1885 he was assistant under von Wahl at the surgical clinic in Dorpat, and received his doctorate in that city in 1885. He passed the Russian state examination, moved to Germany, and during the winter season of 1885/1886 continued his education in Berlin. In 1886, in Marburg, he passed the German state examination. From 1887 to 1889 was assistant at the university surgical clinic in Halle under von Volkmann.
He was habilitated in Marburg in 1890 and in 1892 became a member of the ärztliche Prüfungs-kommission für das medizinische Staatsexamen in Marburg. He became extraordinarius in 1894 and from 1895 he was director and physician-in-chief of the municipal (Kommunalständisches) hospital for the government district Cassel zu Hanau.
