Alexander Schmincke
German pathologist, born September 19, 1877, Nürnberg; died 1953.

Guillain-Alajouanine-Garcin syndrome
A rare syndrome of unilateral paralysis of all or nearly all cranial nerves in tumours of the nasopharynx and base of the skull without affecting the brain itself.

Schmincke-Regaud tumour
An undifferentiated lymhoepithelial carcinoma that originates in the nasopharynx and metastases to the lymph nodes.

Biography:
Alexander Schminke obtained his doctorate from the University of Würzburg in 1901, and in 1907 was habiltated for general pathology as well as general and special pathological anatomy at that university in 1907. He was appointed professor extraordinary at Munich in 1912, and in 1921 accepted an invitation to succeed Heinrich Albrecht (1866-1922) in Graz, moving to the same tenure at Tübingen in 1922, and in 1928 to Heidelberg.
