Austrian gynaecologist and obstetrician, born November 22, 1882, Vienna.

A rare anomaly characterised by short legs due to absence of the tibia bilaterally, polydactyly of hands and feet, absence of thumbs, reduced knee movements.

Biography:
Paul Werner studied at Vienna and received his doctorate in 1906. As an assistant in the Elisabethspital he worked in the women’s clinic from 1910 to 1927, and was habilitated for obstetrics and gynaecology at Vienna in 1916, becoming titular professor extraordinary in 1925. In 1927 he became head of the ambulatorium for women’s diseases at the Frans-Josef-Spital, 1928 head of the gynaecological department at the Rudolfspital in Vienna.
