Johannes Christian Melchior
Danish paediatrician, 1923-1995.

A familial skeletal disorder characterised by short trunk dwarfism, exaggerated lordosis, protrusion of the sternum, flattened vertebral bodies, small hands and feet, clawed fingers and mental retardation.

Biography:
Johannes Christian Melchior graduated in medicine in 1950 and later trained in paediatrics, neurology, and internal medicine. He became head of the department of pediatrics at the Rigshospitalet, and in 1971 he was appointed professor of pediatrics at the University of Copenhagen. From 1974 he was also chairman of the University Pediatric Clinic. He has been dean of the medical faculty, University of Copenhagen. He has published more than 150 papers in the field of metabolic neurological disorders of childhood.
