Hans Finsterer
Austrian surgeon, born June 24, 1877, Weng bei Altheim, Oberösterreich; died 1955.

Biography:
Hans Finsterer studied medicine in Vienna and received his doctorate there in 1902. He subsequently turned to surgery, was assistant under Hacker in Innsbruck 1907-1909, in Vienna under Hochenegg 1910-1918. He was habilitated for surgery in Vienna in 1913, becoming titular professor in 1920. His extensive list of publications covers most fields of surgery, particularly surgery of the stomach and anaestethetics. He devised new operative methods for habitual shoulder luxation as well as gastro-intestinal surgery.
