Biography of Grigori Ivanovich Sokolskii

Grigori Ivanovich Sokolskii attended the University of Moscow, completing his course in 1828 as physician first class. He then went to Dorpat as an apprentice in the professorial institute to complete his studies, and received his medical doctorate in 1832. After visiting Vienna and Berlin in 1833 and 1834, he was appointed professor of clinical medicine at the University of Kasan in 1835. That same year, however, he was called to Moscow, teaching at that university until 1848, the year in which he retired. He remained in Moscow as a practitioner, but died soon afterwards. He published a large number of casuistic reports. His main work is Beschreibung der Brustkrankheiten.
