Aloys Greither
German dermatologist, 1914-1986.

Greither's keratosis
A syndrome characterised by a symmetrical telangiectasia of the extremities with hyperkeratoris and hyperhidrosis.

Meleda syndrome
A syndrome of marked acanthosis, irregular hyperkeratosis and parakeratosis and perivascular infiltration.

Biography:
Aloys Greither was head of the university skin clinic in Aachen from January 1st 1962. Six months later he moved to Düsseldorf in order to succeed Hans Theodor Schreus (1892-1970) in the chair of dermatology.
Besides medicine, Greither's main interests were in music and art history. Before studying medicine he studied philosophy, psychology and paedagogy, and wrote a philosophical dissertation "On the psychoanalytical theories of suicide among adolescents".
