Biography of Enrico Bernardo Streiff

Enrico Bernardo Streiff was the son of an oculist. After qualifying in medicine in he spent some ten years with Adolphe Franceschetti (1896-1968) at the University of Geneva. In 1944 he was appointed full professor at the University of Lausanne, where he also served as head of ophthalmology in the State Hospital. Streiff retired with emeritus status in 1968.

Streiff was co-publisher of the journal Ophthalmologica from 1954 to 1979. He was the editor of Advances in Ophthalmology, Lausanne Bibliotheca Ophthalmologica, 1954. He has published more than 250 papers in the fields of medical genetics, eye disease and the history of ophthalmology
