American cardiologist, born 1895, New York City; died 1973, New York.

A standardized test used to assess cardiac function, particularly by taking ECG before and after exercise.
Biography:
Arthur Morris Master graduated from Cornell University in 1921. He subsequently trained at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York and worked with the famous physiologist and cardiologist Sir Thomas Lewis (1881–1945) at University College Hospital, London. After his return to the United States he became head of cardiology at Mt. Sinai. During the Second World War he served with the U.S Navy in the Solomon Islands.
