Biography of Meinhard von Pfaundler
Meinhard von Pfaundler attended the University of Graz and received his doctorate there. He trained with Franz Hofmeister (1850-1922 in Strasburg and was a pupil of Theodor Escherich (1857-1911). He was habilitated for paediatrics at Graz in 1900, becoming ausserordentlicher professor and head of the children’s clinic 1902. In 1906 he went to Munich as director of the university clinic there. He retired in 1941 and moved to the Austrian Tyrol in 1944 when his house in Munich was destroyed in a bombing raid. Pfaundler was one of Germany's leading paediatricians in his time.
