Biography of Samuel Plumbe

Samuel Plumbe was the son of Samuel Plumb (1764-1852) a wool merchant and clothier of Mill Street, Wantage, Vale of White Horse district, county of Oxfordshire, who owned cloth mills and held contracts for the supply of cloth for army greatcoats. His son was Samuel Alderson Plumbe (1826-1876), doctor of medicine. His son, Samuel Thomson Plumbe, became a general practitioner.
